25 March 2012Mr Don Opie I am outraged that local peoples and papua and the worlds forests in papua are again facing destruction assisted by local government laws .How dare you again have multinational companies plundering your resources for short term gain . Be warned nothing good will come to any individual supporting this particular timber trade
20 March 2012Sebastian Hurokoli To the Current Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Forest Minister. I would like to take this opportunity to express my view on the effects of illegal logging and the issue of clearing two million hectares forest areas agriculture lease-lease back concept. As a Papua New Guinean who have survived in the village because of the good that the government recognizes the right that the local people own the land and the forest. I would say that, Papua New Guineans are blessed to have this right being recognized by the government of the past. I am afraid that the current policy or whatever deal it is to clear two million hectares of forest will be the beginning of a new poverty era in PNG. Our ancestors lived happily connected to the forest and everything inside it. This is beauty that PNG will lose. If this deal is true, a suspect that this has been made for the benefit of the few self centered leaders in PNG. Being the legitimate leaders, I would simply request that the forest is a our super market. We can not afford goods in the shop like you do. The forest is where we get what we need to survive. With that, thank you for consideration of my concern at the very lowest level of the people that you represent in the parliament.

22 February 2012Ben I'm a Greenpeace sponsor. When I first read about the forest clearing in PNG I wanted to help. Didn't know how.I got a call from Greenpeace so I asked the caller if there was anything I could do to help the PNG forests. She said she only wanted to increase my monthly donation to Greenpeace. I declined. Now I'm glad I found this petition. I hope someone stops the illegal logging.
