Thinkers, Resources, Battles

In life we go through many battles. That is a given. Epic battles, short battles, long battles, little insignificant battles and the most painful battles are those that you fight internally.

Those battles are usually the ones where we don’t realize we’re fighting until we get injured or injure someone. It’s harder to see where the battle lines are and who or where the enemy is. In these battles the black and white is indistinguishable and you end up seeing more grey areas. Though it is vital to make the distinction and there is no space for error.

There are people like me who hate thinking over extended periods and generally like to live in the moment (Martin Luther King’s worst nightmare). We regularly find ourselves suddenly inhaling a whole heap of dust, bleeding and smack bang in the middle of an epic battle without a weapon. Most of us Papua New Guineans in urban areas are like this (with a few exceptions). We go through the 8 hour mental gymnastics, 5 days a week, working for that pay packet which generally doesn’t give us much gratification or happiness at the end of that period.

There are others where the thoughts just never cease, there’s a constant storm of lightning, thunder, the whole cyclonic works and maybe even a tsunami every now and then! This breed of Papua New Guineans don’t subject themselves to that 5 day a week period, don’t torture themselves with 8 hours of intense mental workout. They take their time, think, plan strategies and do all that all over again and eventually after a couple of repeats they find a weapon that has the capacity to cause total annihilation, hop on a tank and just the sight of all THAT on the battle field is enough to intimidate enemies into retreat. They will always be prepared with enough arsenal to blow up a small island nation if need be.

Now at this moment, the battle field is being prepared, the battle lines are being drawn and the enemy is massing its weapons. The prize for winning this battle is our land and our sea AND what is in it or on it. Our forests, our petroleum, our gold, our nickel, our zinc, our copper and our people are part and parcel of this prize. The enemy has its eyes set on the prize and is making its stance known. The enemy will use whatever means to win that battle: deceit, lies, intimidation, and bribery and is even evil enough to use God’s name to get what it wants.

This is the time where we need more people who think and can recognize when the best time to make a move is. The battlefield inside the big Haus Tambaran is ready, soon we'll see one of the biggest battles ever. We are hoping that there are more thinkers that have made it onto that battlefield and not those spineless 8 hours a day, 5 days a week type thinkers.

There is hope though, the big Haus Tambaran may be the largest battlefield but it isn’t the only one and is far from being the most significant one. Our chosen army inside the big Haus Tambaran may have the biggest weapons but they are only a minority of the total capable fighters, their weapons aren't the only ones available. If our chosen army inside the big Haus Tambaran doesn't make the right moves, the rest of you capable thinkers can and must oblige.

With that in mind – let the battle begin!
