The announcement by new Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill, that his government will sell the controversial Falcon jet is a smart move, says ACT NOW.
"The Falcon jet was an expensive mistake that epitomized the greed and corruption of the previous government, it is a smart move by the new PM to get rid of what was effectively a ‘private PMV’ for the Somare’s and their supporters".
ACT NOW! has also congratulated the new government on its announcement of an Independent Commission Against Corruption, but says there still remains much to be done to reverse the blatant stealing of public money and other abuses.
"An ICAC is a great move, but it must be adequately resourced and free from political interference".

Effrey, Effrey, Effrey,
Don't you know that this is just a way to raise more money for the 2012 election? I can't believe that you can't figure out cunning Peter O'Neil's strategy!

Hi mr/ms/mrs Anonimus ;-) They WILL fund the 2012 elections through state coffers regardless of whether they sell the jet or not. Get that ! Firstly, they already have their hands on state coffers. Second, in case you haven't noticed, they've also secured party sponsorship packages from multi-millionare miners too. Our concern is the bottom line! That PNG does not need an expensive jet. And while there is political will (which is rare) to get rid of this expensive piece of aluminium tube, we should be calling for it to go. Ongoing operational costs are outrageously high ! Ask a PX senior staffer and they'll tell you how outrageous it is to maintain the crew and the jet on a daily basis.
